I mentioned in the beginning I'm a bit of a procrastinator. Maybe more than a bit. Because here it is, now T-minus-124 days (holy crap, 124 days ?????) til my BIG 4-0. And I'm nowhere near where I thought I would be at this point.
But, I'm not here to beat myself up about it, because while I'm not bikini ready, and likely won't be by that big 'ole 40th birthday, I have made some significant accomplishments in this journey.
I'm still exercising. Not in the "I have no choice but to do at least 30 minutes a day" kind of way, more of a hit or miss kinda thing.
My sweet boyfriend devised a plan for me way back in January that was supposed to help me be able to run this year's Frosty 5k . While my "training" for this event started out well, I was sidelined first by a nasty cold, and as it turns out, as I convalesced from that cold my motivation to exercise took a dive into the cellar.
That being said, I managed to run about half of the 'race' in intervals (and I'm using that term 'race' loosely here folks) and bettered my Peach Bud 5k time by 7.31 minutes and our New Years Resolution Run (Walk) by 4.21 minutes. I have to say I'm pretty happy about that.
And I've got my sights set on the 5k Chocolate Race in April, where I not only hope to run a little more of the 5k but I also get to reward myself with chocolate along the way and at the end. Who wouldn't be motivated to run for chocolate ????
I may even resurrect the training schedule and adapt it for the next 6 weeks.
Round 2 of the 8 Week Challenge is officially starting for me on April 16th. Prior to this start I plan to ease my way back into the challenge mindset and start ridding my diet of those evil processed foods and aim to eat more whole and natural. I'm undecided at this point if I'm going to go all out and give up coffee and caffeine again this time around. I have my doubts that it makes that much of a difference in the end results, but if I'm paying to do the Challenge and be more accountable to the program then I probably will.
I'd love to see the same kind of results as the first Challenge brought me. And the first 10 pounds I lose will be the ones I gained back after resuming my bad eating habits when that Challenge was over
I think all and all I've made some positive steps in the right direction. And now that life seems to be settling down in a more domestic, normal routine, I'm certain that more progress will easily be made.
T-minus-124 days. It's not that far away. I can do it !
