PeachBud 5k Recap

So,  months ago I promised my very good friend Tree that I would join her in the Grimsby PeachBud 5k race .  My plan at the time was to start the C25k program and be able to run the 5k.

As procrastination would have it,  I never really did start the C25k program.  And it's amazing how fast months go by when you think you have all this time to prepare.   And suddenly it's June 28th.

I had planned to walk the 5k with a friend who has recently found out she was pregnant.  But due to difficulties with her first pregnancy her doctor recommended she take it easy and  not go.   So now I'm planning to walk alone.

I've never been to an "event" before.  In general it was alot of fun.  People everywhere. Music. Food. Free Swag.   And then there was the *RACE* part.

My goals were simple : finish under an hour, not be LAST.  Don't die.    I even thought I might jog a little.

I met all those goals.   My chip time was 52:52.    I finished 6th to last.  And I did jog the first 500m or so,  and a few more steps along the way.

I could get hooked on the atmosphere, the comraderie,  the sincere encouragement from onlookers and competitors alike.  It is a great feeling.    And I know this will not the one and only 5k I'll ever do in my life.

52:52   ~  I have nowhere to go but up :)

T minus 374

So, enough of the procrastination already.   I've got that part down to a science.  I've been doing it as long as I can remember.   Essay due on Friday ?  I'll write it Thursday night.   8 people coming for dinner tomorrow.  Start shopping and prep that morning .   Lose all the weight I've gained in 16 years ?  I'll start on that tomorrow.  Or maybe the next day.

Only the next day has never come.    It's time to get my (fat) ass in gear and finally do something about it.

So, this is going to be my beacon .  To give me something to hold accountable to.
And in the course of the next 374 days (which will in fact be my 40th birthday) I invite you to join me on my journey to health and wellness,  fit not fatness,  and probably some self awareness, self exploration and realization along the way !
